Description
Armadex offers a range of ATEX-certified antennas for safe and reliable wireless connectivity in hazardous areas. Whether you need dual-band WiFi, high-gain single-band coverage, or 4G/LTE cellular connectivity, our antennas are designed for use in ATEX Zone 2 (gas explosive atmospheres) and Zone 22 (dust explosive atmospheres) with no loss of signal or coverage compared to standard antennas.
All Armadex antennas carry a full ATEX certificate and ATEX marking, compliant with EN 60079-0, EN 60079-7, and EN 60079-31. This is our guarantee for safe use in classified hazardous locations.
Who needs ATEX antennas?
Explosion-proof wireless infrastructure is a necessity in industries where flammable gases, vapours, or combustible dust are present. Typical applications include:
- Oil & gas refineries and offshore platforms
- Chemical and pharmaceutical production
- Food & beverage facilities (alcohol fumes, sugar and herbal ingredients)
- Warehouses handling plant materials or chemicals
In these environments, standard wireless equipment cannot be used safely. ATEX-certified antennas ensure your wireless network meets regulatory requirements without compromising on performance.
Smart installation — antenna only, standard access point
Did you know that only specific locations within an industrial plant are classified as hazardous? If the distance from the antenna to the access point is no more than 25 metres, there is a highly cost-effective solution: mount the ATEX antenna in the hazardous area and connect it via coax cable to a standard access point positioned outside. This means you can use any access point of your choice, with no ATEX-rated access point required. For installations where the access point itself must be located within the hazardous zone, we also offer the Armadex Ex UAP-AC-PRO ATEX Access Point.
Our ATEX antenna range
We offer three categories of ATEX antenna to cover different connectivity needs. The OmniX-DL24/50 R1 and R2 are available from stock. The OmniX-24 8dBi and OmniX-4G LTE are available on request, contact us for lead times and minimum order quantities.

Dual-band WiFi (R1 or R2)
High-gain single-band WiFi (OmniX-24 8dBi)
4G/LTE cellular (OmniX-4G LTE)
The right choice for most WiFi installations. Both models operate on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz simultaneously, making them compatible with modern dual-band access points. The R1 is the more compact option while the R2 is slightly larger with updated performance characteristics. Both are available from stock.
Choose this where maximum range is the priority and your network runs exclusively on 2.4 GHz. With 8 dBi peak gain, it outperforms the dual-band models in range and is well suited to large open spaces, long corridors, or environments with significant signal attenuation.
For applications requiring cellular connectivity rather than a local WiFi network. Covers all major LTE frequency bands and is a direct ATEX-certified replacement for standard GSM antennas in Zone 2 and Zone 22 environments.
