Description
ATEX Camera Certified For Zone 2
The ARMADEX Ex-M OZC 2 is the only explosion proof camera that is equipped with a 5x optical zoom function. Our ATEX Camera is suitable for use in ATEX Zone 2 (Gas).
The compact yet rugged camera body is shockproof against drops up to 2.1m, freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius and dustproof. The ATEX Camera is converted in-house by our experts, as is the case for all of our ATEX Equipment.
Please note that due to ATEX Regulations, the xenon flash tube is disabled, however the 6 LED ring light is functional.

Key Benefits and Features of the Explosion Proof Camera

5x Optical Zoom Lens
One of the key benefits that distinguishes the OZC 2 instrinsically safe camera from competitors is the excellent zoom functionality.
The optical zoom lens captures images and video at a 5x zoom level without losing any quality at all. In addition to that the camera’s software is equipped with an 8.1x digital zoom functionality.
With the intelligent zoom function the hard- and software are combined, allowing the user to zoom in up to 40.5 times.
The 40.5x intelligent zoom functionality allows users to:
- Capture dangerous machinery from a safe distance.
- Inspect zone 1 safely from within zone 2.
- Capture extreme details, especially useful when inspecting price machinery or microchips.
- Take images and video in tight spaces.
- Discover microscopic damages and unevenness in Digital Microscopic Mode
Movie SR+
The OZC 2 uses advanced Movie SR+ software to stabilize video and images. This feature is especially useful when conducting video inspections. Users can freely walk around the site and capture all equipment, machinery and surroundings without the video becoming distorted or shaky. This makes for a much more clear and professional material, which can not be matched by the latest generation of smartphones.
Tough, Lightweight Camera Body
The ARMADEX Ex-M OZC 2 weighs in at only 246 grams, including the battery.
The compact explosion proof camera can withstand drops up to 2.1m, has an operating temperature between -10°C – +40°C, is waterproof up to 25m and dustproof.

Excellent Low-light Performance
The flash of a camera is an ignition hazard and therefore does not comply with ATEX regulations. This forms a problem because in some potentially explosive areas a light source is not present at all times. For example tight spaces in factories / machinery rooms or hazardous areas that are located in the open air and rely on daylight as a source of illumination.
The Ex-M OZC 2 is the only intrinsically safe camera that tackles this issue. High sensitivity performance is achieved through the advanced image processing engine. In other words, the camera uses software to capture high quality, bright images without using the flash.

6 LED Ring Light
In addition to the software, the Armadex intrinsically safe camera is equipped with a 6 LED ring light.
The 6 LED ring light is especially useful when investigating small parts or damages in a 3D like manner, but can also be used for illuminating the scene in a sense a flash normally would.
For optimal lighting, the user may turn individual LEDs on or off.
4K Recording
4K Recording is available at 30 fps, delivering the highest image quality (20 megapixels).
Another option is to record at 60 fps in HD, making for a smoother video at a slightly reduced per-image quality.
The high-resolution CMOS sensor is combined with a high-performance image processing engine for taking low noise, razor sharp images.

More benefits of the intrinsically safe camera (Ex-M OZC 2)
- USB-C (3.0) connectivity ensuring rapid and safe file transfer.
- Long battery life, good for taking 340 still images
- Worksite Ready: rugged chassis, tight grip, solid buttons
- Wide angle lens – capture more in a single image
- Wind suppression, especially offshore when capturing video offshore
- Easy and practical interface – ready for use out of the box

Is The Armadex OZC 2 Intrinsically Safe?
Hazardous area cameras are often referred to as ‘intrinsically safe cameras’. It is important to realize that this term can have a double meaning.
Intrinsically Safe (IS) vs. Non-Incendive (NI)
First off, there is the difference between intrinsically safe (IS) and non-incendive (NI). Equipment that is either IS or NI will not form a source of ignition. However the difference is that non-incendive equipment is certified assuming there are no faults or malfunctions in the equipment. Intrinsically safe means that even in the case of a fault or malfunction, for example a cracked screen, the equipment will still not be able to form a source of ignition. This is essentially the difference between zone 1 and 2.
Protection Method Ex ic; Intrinsic Safety
The other side of the argument gets even more technical. In our hazardous area design, we have used protection method Ex ic. Which stands for intrinsic safety. Ex ic applies to zone 2 only. Because we use this protection method, we refer to our OZC 2 as intrinsically safe camera or intrinsic safety camera.
